Bioidentical hormones gave me back my sanity!
Since the first time I saw Dr. Archer and started on my hormone treatment, things may get me down for a day, maybe two, but that's it. I started on my new hormones on June 1, 09. I have almost as much energy as I did in my 30's. I can't wait for the 20's!! Today, I walked for the first time and I joined Weight Watchers one more time, but for the last time. I'm going to outlive Suzanne Somers!!! I'm handling the rejection which is something I've never been able to handle and I'm starting to really like me. I'm starting to paint again and starting to make my house beautiful which is why I got into this business 21 years ago.
Cholesterol is “Good” for You?!?
Statistics indicate that a number of Americans are suffering from hormonal imbalances due to improper diet and ability to handle insulin. These factors can, in turn, affect many other hormones in the body including the sex hormones. If adequate cholesterol levels are not maintained and balanced, these hormones cannot be made in good quantities and symptoms of hormone deficiency may occur.
I'm depressed… please help
You may be suffering from a hormone imbalance. You have some classic symptoms that may be related to estrogen dominance or an imbalance of adrenal hormones. The best way to find out is to find a qualified doctor to do an evaluation of your hormone levels with blood and saliva testing. With proper hormone balance you may be able to get off the medications which you are uncomfortable taking.
Can hormones cause depression? The answer in short is yes. Hormones have an enormous impact on mood, sleep and many other factors that are essential for quality of life. While depression certainly can have a number of emotional and psychological causes, the role of hormones cannot be overlooked.
AMA met to set advocacy agenda for upcoming year
The AMA's 543-member policy-making House of Delegates met in Chicago, to set its advocacy agenda for the coming year. It's unusual for a non-physician, let alone a U.S. president, to address AMA House of Delegates meetings, but President Obama was seeking committee support for his national health-care reform plan.

Your hormone levels naturally decline with age…
Many things can accelerate the decline of hormone levels in both sexes. Stress levels, diet, nutrition and lifestyles all contribute to hormone imbalance. Currently, one of the main culprits is stress. This is true because the stress hormone, cortisol, is built with the same building blocks as our sex hormones, DHEA, testosterone and estrogen. The more stress we have, the more cortisol we demand and the fewer building blocks we have to make our sex hormones.
It's National Men's Health Week... The purpose of the observance is to raise awareness of preventable health problems and encourage the early detection and treatment of health problems affecting men. Take care of yourself and be proactive with your health, not reactive!
50+ and Fabulous After Starting on Bioidenticals!
BodyLogicMD covers the gamut – nutrition, rest, fitness – all of those combined have helped me get in balance. I feel really great now and have been feeling wonderful! I actually felt good enough to compete in Mrs. Georgia United States 2009 and I won photogenic and tied for the Swimsuit Award (with someone who was born the year my husband and I got married)! I would never have been able to do that if I hadn’t seen Dr. Donohue. It felt so great when I won the swimsuit award – and I was competing with women in their 20’s! Taking good care of yourself and getting the right kind of medical advice can make all the difference…
Dr. Robert Rubin of BodyLogicMD was interviewed by Gayle Guyardo on WFLA-Tampa. He discussed "The Oprah Effect" on his practice and the Anti-Aging industry in general. Newsweek Attacks Oprah, BodyLogicMD Speaks Out
Newsweek recently published a scathing article about Oprah titled "Why Health Advice on Oprah could make you sick." In it, Weston Kosova and Pat Wingert criticize Oprah for having Suzanne Somers on her show as the "expert" on bioidentical hormones. Dr. Alicia Stanton, CMO of BodyLogicMD shares her thoughts on Kosova and Wingert's criticisms.
I applaud Dr. Oz's answer on Oprah show regarding andropause or as we like to call it Man-o-pause! For men Testosterone reaches a peak at around age 25-30 and then goes down at a rate of 1-2% per year which is why as Dr. Oz points out that the onset of symptoms is very slow and not very obvious to men. The changes with menopause tends to happen over a shorter period of time so women are more aware of the changes. Men may notice a lack of energy, declining memory, increased moodiness, a decrease in libido and/or erections and a loss in muscle tone, increase in fat and a loss of stamina. Levels of testosterone are easily checked in a blood test and can be corrected with testosterone therapy. In addtion to improving all of the above symptoms, replacing testosterone also decreases the risk of heart disease and alzheimer's disease and can improve cholesterol and blood sugar levels among many other benefits. Many of the changes that men tend to chalk up to aging can be improved with testosterone therapy.
Get Your Sexy Back … Balance Your Hormones
Using bioidentical hormone replacement therapy along with a lifestyle plan including proper nutrition and fitness to treat libido problems in both men and women has given many people their sexy back. Many people report they feel "back to their old selves" again. They are able to turn the clock back to a time when they felt sexier and were more interested in having sex.
It is important for men to realize the importance of stress reduction, diet and lifestyle on their hormone levels. Men should find ways to reduce their stress such as meditation, exercise, reading, journaling or enjoying nature.
