Welcome to the first entry into the BodyLogicMD blog. In a sense, this is the grand opening of our online community dedicated to sharing and comparing the latest views and news in regards to bioidentical hormone therapy.
As founder of BodyLogicMD, I am dedicated to improving consumer awareness about the benefits of preventive medicine and am thrilled to report the progress over the past few years.
BodyLogicMD’s concept was born as a result of my personal and professional journey. BodyLogicMD was launched in 2002, with a vision and mission to bring qualified anti-aging doctors together with consumers interested in a natural way to treat the signs of hormonal imbalances such as menopause and andropause. BodyLogicMD opened its first office in early 2003 and today I am happy to report we have grown to over 19 locations nationwide and are continuously adding more.
It was also in 2002 that many women (and physicians) were caught off guard when a governmental study called The Women’s Health Initiative was released on the effects of hormone therapy on women and breast cancer. It is for this reason that when discussing hormone therapy for women in menopause, one must first discuss and understand the Women’s Health Initiative. The study was first published in 2002 and brought fear to women everywhere about the risk of using hormones.
Offsetting this study with a more consumer-friendly and reality based approach came Suzanne Somers in 2003 with the release of her book, “The Sexy Years,” which brought bioidentical hormone therapy the credibility it so deserves. In this passionately argued and enormously practical book, Suzanne supports her own research and experiences with the expertise of leading doctors in the field of women’s and men’s health and sexuality to create an inspiring, accessible call-to-arms to women to radically rethink how they approach life after fifty, and give them the tools reverse and control the aging process.
BodyLogicMD had the privilege to contribute to Suzanne Somers’ 2006 follow up book and New York Times bestseller “Ageless, The Naked Truth about Bioidentical Hormones.” This book continues her extensive research with 16 leading experts on bioidentical hormone therapy, including myself, explaining in terms that everyone can understand and enjoy the importance of bioidentical hormones, fitness, nutrition and sleep.
Some other philosophies that BodyLogicMD share’s with its patients and the general public:
The Biggest Misconception about Healthcare:
“We have a health-based system.” Patients see doctors when they are sick. Doctors treat patients when they are ill. Insurance companies pay bills only when given a diagnosis or disease-based reason. There’s very little support for prevention.
I hope you will subscribe to the BodyLogicMD blog specializing in bioidentical hormone therapy. Each week will feature a BodyLogicMD physician or associate sharing some of the views and thoughts we feel are important to the general public.

Glad to see someone covering this topic that is so important for men to know about. I look forward to reading your information.
Is their a doctor in Richardson,TX ?
My doctor prescribes bioidentical hormones for me from a local compounding pharmacy, but I have never had my hormone levels tested. I feel great on what I am taking for the past two years. I am 63.
I have just completed my blood panels and I am very much looking forward to my first appointment, diagnosis and plan for re-vitalization. I just wish I didn’t have to wait a month for the appointment due to holidays, schedules, etc.
After reading Suzanne Somers’ first book about bioidentical hormones, I sought out and found a certified compounding pharmacist locally. I am in Nacogdoches, Texas, and M & S Pharmacy has Sandy, the compounding pharmacist.
She gave me the packets for the saliva tests and I got one for my husband at the same time. We found local co-operating Dr.’s. Husband is on bio-identical testesterone and I am on bioidentical progesterone and bioidentical testesterone. I am a believer in the bioidenticals and they work great for me and my husband.
I am 56, he is 60. I wish we had closer Dr.’s knowledgeable in the bioidenticals, but those participating aren’t knocking it at all as long as we’re the ones doing the asking. They aren’t actively telling their patients to go on bioidenticals.
Every Dr. I’ve come in contact with seems very interested in the bioidenticals and to see what comes of it. They just don’t have enough information available to them.
I am so happy to have found hope for my intense menopausal symptoms. I am 49 years old and my body feels much older. I have all of the symptoms (and then some) of early menopause. I have dieted for two years and cannot lose the last ten pounds.
I finally found a doctor who had me do the saliva testing and I am now waiting on the results. In the meantime I have started bioidenticals. Although I feel somewhat better it has only been 10 days, and I have been told it takes a while for the compounds to work.
How do I get my doctor to join an anti aging group?
The greatest down side to this is that my health insurance will not pay for the testing, the prescriptions for bio identical hormones or my doctor visit. Something must be done to convince the health insurance companies that this is a GOOD thing and will help everyone involved!
I am 55 and still gaining weight! I have read the Swharzbien Principal and Sommers book and thought that is what I need. I eliminated stress, (slept alot the first 2 months) gave up anything white, artificial, bread, caffein (realy tough) etc and found BioIdendical Dr. that I love and trust, I was excited and hopeful, for over 6 months I am on oral progesteron , cream estrogen and thyroid pill. BUT I AM Still gaining weight, I gained around the middle and thighs most. Still waking in the middle of the night and now I ache in every joint plus it is expensive with no results, Now what?
When you say you feel better, can someone tell me what feels better? Do you have more energy? Do you feel less bloated? Less body aches? I need to do something…..
interested also in looking into bio-identicals
and in helping my osteoporosis
any suggesitons?
I’ve been on bioidentical hormone rx for about six months. Some of my symptoms have been alleviated altogether, but some of my symptoms remain. I take my third saliva test today and I’m hoping it will show something else that I need to do to help myself get better. Oh, I’m a 42 year old female who has a short cycle and estrogen dominant.
Still looking for the name of the hormone for hearing
Aldosterone plays a key role. See: http://www.straightfromthedoc.com/50226711/aldosterone_the_hearing_hormone.php
I am 52 living in the UK and Doctors (even with our National Health Service) are unwilling to venture down a logical route.
It is obvious to me that we need bloods taken but will they do it? Nah!!
Men wouldn’t have laid down for nearly as much as we have done.
Come on UK get with it!
