Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy Over 60?

January 15, 2009

I am 60. I have never taken hormones of any kind. Can I still get hormone therapy to help me?

Jancie

Jancie,

It depends on your symptoms, goals, and hormone levels. You can obtain a lot of information from the links on Oprah’s Website. The next step is to talk to your doctor or find a specialist in bioidentical hormone replacement therapy, get tested, and decide with your physician what is best for you. My patients range in age from early twenties to late eighties. Some have been on hormones of various kinds, some have not. A few of my patients are only looking for information, and choose not to go on therapy. Of those who choose to go on therapy, all but a small handful feel wonderful.
